A Hundred More Years

My first oil painting, done for my sister Rissy's sixteenth birthday. While I'm disappointed by how terribly it looks on the computer (I had to use my cheap-o camera instead of scanning it... on my cheap-o scanner), I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the actual painting. Of course, it doesn't do Eyvind Earle justice... I know trees are typically grey-ish, but I wanted to make these brown, to give it a happier, more emphatic look, but I wanted them dark to give off a "deep German forest" feel (I always think of The Sleeping Beauty as being German).

Hmm... when I look at Philip and Aurora, they kind of remind me of Taran and Eilonwy. :/ Ah, well, I suppose that's what I get for spending a week on the trees and only a three days on the couple!
